The Ford Focus on-board navigation system
More store need to look at what Apple does. But I guess if people accept the kinda crap like you were talking about at the Sprint store, why should these other stores be motivated? I’m on your side though…I want more hands on!
A few of us went to the Sprint store on Mission St in San Francisco during WWDC and the Pre corner had two devices - as you describe - and both were switched on and working just fine for us to use and experience first hand. (In fact, the assistant even went as far as getting us a third device to play with there and then).
It sounds like your experience is specific to the store in NYC you visited, so maybe ‘epic fail’ is a bit of a premature conclusion.
Mark: my “epic fail” title was to my particular visit, which definitely failed. I’m glad to hear you had a better experience, and I can’t generalize. I hope the other stores present the product in a better, working state.
Maybe they do that because they know your imagination will be able to do more than the actual software.
